My name is Angela Dunn and I started this blog as an outlet for creative writing. I have been employed at SAP AG in Walldorf, Germany since 2002, where I recently stepped down as editor in chief of the employee magazine, a position I had held for several years. I continue to work in the Global Communications department, where I work in the strategic communications team. Alas, I no longer have a fancy title.
The opinions expressed in this blog are purely my own and do not reflect those of my employer. All content is unique and copyrighted.
I am originally from Canada, but left Montréal immediately after finishing my university education bound for China on a one-way ticket. In the end, I never went home. In Beijing, I met my husband, a German intellectual, and we now live near Heidelberg, Germany. We have two boys, ages 12 and 17.

Hi Angela!
I used to work for Heidelberg Digital in Rochester, New York. Unfortunately I never got to travel to Germany while I worked there.
Good luck with your new blog!
Hello Nancy,
Thanks for your kind words of support. Please tune in again!
Welcome to the blogosphere…
Hey, hey, hey. Well lookie here … Angela out of the lurkusphere and into the blogosphere. Welcome! I’ll be here often.
Took you a while, but it’s been worth the wait. Love your corporate writing, and am very much looking forward to your personal stuff. Feed your inner freak! Let loose the broad!
Good luck. My kids have had blogs for several years and I have found out that I really enjoy reading them. They finally convinced me to try one myself.
kgejyz Thanks for good post

You need more rest i think
Thank you

Angela,
Great blog. I completely understand the need to balance corporate communications with a creative outlet. I just read your blog post about redesigning/rethinking the SAP employee publication and found it very interesting, as I was part of a very similar effort at Chevron for one of their employee publications. It’s a tough undertaking, but when it works, it can be a really fun and effective source of employee pride and recognition. Anyway, should you ever need a writer for the magazine let me know. I’d love to help tell the stories of SAP employees, leaders and strategies through engaging and dynamic writing.

Hi Amir,
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your insight with us. I am always interested in engaging with other people in corporate comms, but especially with writers who have your experience.
Angela,
Thanks so much for the response. I look forward to swaping stories on our corporate comms/creative writing ups and downs.

Hey good stuff…keep up the good work! I read a lot of blogs on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your blog. Thanks,)
A definite great read…:)

Angela,
I arrived here quite by random and have to say hello. Sounds like things have worked out nicely for you and your family and I wish you more of the same.
I’m still writing in TO and my big passion of recent years is perennial garden design. I was just with my GF in England and the Netherlands in September to go deeper into the wild garden experience.
Funnily enough, my GF’s mother has a summmer place outside of Perth, close to where you grew up in Almonte. I’ll be up there over Xmas.
Anyway. Pleasure to come across your blog.
Take care,
Tony
Hello Tony! Good to hear from you again. It has been so long. Perth is a lovely town, one of my favorites in that area. Gardening sounds like something you would do well. Where can I see photos of your work? Are you living in a place where you have your own garden?
Take care,
Angela
Lovely to hear back Angela. It really has been eons. I’m still in Toronto in my relatively spacious apartment; my garden is at our family cottage in the Kawarthas and my particular fascination is perennial planting design, inspired by Dutch plantsman, Piet Oudolf. Of course, my country garden is a constant work in progress but you can see shots from this past season on Flickr.

I’ve learned incredibly from the experience of creating the garden there and am playing with the notion of delving more into the world of design. Funny, because once upon a time I worked as a landscaper during my summers away from McGill so it’s always been something of a theme.
I know that there are many fantastic gardens throughout Germany so I envy you that.
chrs,
Tony
Angela Dunn !!!!
Son-of-a-gun, Who’d-a-thunk! You look the same in your picture as you did way back then (1987???).
Steven
I saw your photo in the HUMM recently with your mom, and googled you. I definitely agree you look the same as back in high school. Liked the blog about Halloween.
