Lovely to hear back Angela. It really has been eons. I'm still in Toronto in my relatively spacious apartment; my garden is at our family cottage in the Kawarthas and my particular fascination is perennial planting design, inspired by Dutch plantsman, Piet Oudolf. Of course, my country garden is a constant work in progress but you can see shots from this past season on Flickr.

I've learned incredibly from the experience of creating the garden there and am playing with the notion of delving more into the world of design. Funny, because once upon a time I worked as a landscaper during my summers away from McGill so it's always been something of a theme.

I know that there are many fantastic gardens throughout Germany so I envy you that.

Hello Tony! Good to hear from you again. It has been so long. Perth is a lovely town, one of my favorites in that area. Gardening sounds like something you would do well. Where can I see photos of your work? Are you living in a place where you have your own garden?
Take care,
Angela

Angela,

I arrived here quite by random and have to say hello. Sounds like things have worked out nicely for you and your family and I wish you more of the same.

I'm still writing in TO and my big passion of recent years is perennial garden design. I was just with my GF in England and the Netherlands in September to go deeper into the wild garden experience.

Funnily enough, my GF's mother has a summmer place outside of Perth, close to where you grew up in Almonte. I'll be up there over Xmas.

Anyway. Pleasure to come across your blog.

Take care,

Tony

Hi Amir,
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your insight with us. I am always interested in engaging with other people in corporate comms, but especially with writers who have your experience.

Angela,

Great blog. I completely understand the need to balance corporate communications with a creative outlet. I just read your blog post about redesigning/rethinking the SAP employee publication and found it very interesting, as I was part of a very similar effort at Chevron for one of their employee publications. It's a tough undertaking, but when it works, it can be a really fun and effective source of employee pride and recognition. Anyway, should you ever need a writer for the magazine let me know. I'd love to help tell the stories of SAP employees, leaders and strategies through engaging and dynamic writing.

Good luck. My kids have had blogs for several years and I have found out that I really enjoy reading them. They finally convinced me to try one myself.
